Words Fail

Most of you have likely already read on Christy's blog about the death of a dear friend's husband to Melanoma. I just want "Patsy" to know you're constantly in my thoughts and I will be actively seeking ways to help you during this extremely difficult time. I'm so so sorry my friend.

Office Revisited

I've posted about Office once before in my dissertation about my love of post-punk. At the time I'd picked up their album, Q&A, off iTunes because it was fairly hard to find anywhere else and I wanted the music Right. Then!

Since then they were picked up by New Line Records and they re-recorded a bunch of songs from Q&A as well as some new ones for the widespread release of a new album, A Night At The Ritz. I've been looking forward to the album since they pulled Q&A off iTunes for the new release and it finally came out September 25th 2007.

After hunting around at all the big media stores like FYE, Circuit City, and Best Buy with no luck I finally tried a local place that usually gets small releases. Each of their stores only received one copy so I had them hold one and snapped it up. Thank FSM for Graywhale.

The re-recorded tracks sound great and the additional songs fit in perfectly. It's my belief this band is going to be big. For some reason I keep wanting to compare them to The Smiths though that's not exactly what they sound like. More Brit Pop in general, though they hail from Chicago.

I'm curious if you, my gentle readers, appreciate me mentioning my latest musical conquests or if they elicit a big yawn? Not that I intend to stop posting about them, this is my blog after all. I just wonder if this is mainly for my own record-keeping or if any others have enjoyed some of the bands I've come across.
